Dynamic Anatomy of the Spine in Contact Improvisation. A practical workshop informed by the Axis Syllabus

“This workshop transformed my dancing”, “anatomy finally explained”, “the most useful, articulate movement information I've ever received”, “life changing”.

In this workshop we will investigate how the specific three dimensional motion of our spines can be combined to radically improve:

  • Ease of movement -using spiral mechanics

  • Grace and flow- mastering efficient use of momentum

  • Fun and expressive potential -more precise dancing means more freedom of choice

  • Efficient, dynamic lifting capacity- understand exactly how to work with your partners body weight and direct your own

  • Increased strength and flexibility- align joints effectively for maximum stability and mobility

The movements of the spine are complex, understanding them with our bodies gives us an epic level-up of our dancing, both with and without partners.

The content of this workshop aims to challenge, inform and support all dancers, from those newer to CI to advanced practitioners of the form.

Cost: £30 regular, £25 concession.
